What to Expect
We’re excited that you’re thinking of welcoming one of our puppies into your home! To ensure every placement is a great match, we follow a carefully designed process — guiding you smoothly from your initial application to the moment your new companion joins your family.

The Application Process
Complete the Application Form
If you’re ready to get started, please submit an Adoption Application and read over our Puppy Contract, this helps us understand your experience, goals, and preferences. The more thorough your answers, the better we can determine a perfect fit.
Review and Interview
If your application aligns with our placement criteria, we’ll follow up to learn more about you and answer questions.
Waitlist Confirmation
Approved applicants are placed on our active waitlist and will be considered for upcoming litters that match their preferences.
Matching and Placement
We begin matching puppies around 6–8 weeks of age, based on structure, temperament, and what each family is looking for. Final placement decisions are made with care and breeder discretion.
Deposit
Once a match is made, a non-refundable deposit is required to hold your puppy until go-home day.
Expected Wait Times
Wait times vary depending on what you’re looking for. Families open to either sex, a range of colors, or either size variety (miniature or standard) are often matched more quickly. If you are waiting for a show prospect or specific pairing, wait times may be longer.
We typically plan one to three litters per year and only breed when we feel a pairing will contribute meaningfully to the breed and our program.
Staying Informed
Once on our waitlist, approved homes will receive:
Private updates on planned and confirmed litters
Priority access to available puppies
Direct communication from us when a potential match is identified
We value transparency and open communication throughout the process and are committed to making each placement the right one.
Apply for a Puppy
Welcoming E R Dox dachshund into your life means joining a small, carefully chosen circle of owners who value quality, purpose, and breed preservation.
We do not maintain a “first come, first served” list. Instead, we focus on intentional placements, ensuring that each puppy is matched to the most compatible home—whether that’s a show home, a performance partner, or a loving family companion.
Our ideal homes:
Understand the commitment of owning a dachshund
Are prepared to train and socialize with intention
Value structure, routine, and breed-appropriate activity
Communicate openly and value long-term breeder support
Whether you're a first-time dachshund owner or a seasoned handler, we want to get to know you—and what kind of life you envision for your future pup.
